For my dad...

Because my dad says I need to update my blog more often. There has actually been so much going on, and that's probably why the blog has been on hold...here is a post just for a good laugh though...

For you dad...

What happens when you go out of town for the weekend and your friends watch your kids to help your hubby out...

Our getaway...

Several years ago we were given a gift certificate for a night's stay at the Richwood Plantation, and we are so thankful we finally got the opportunity to use it! We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary, which is actually on the 19th, but because the inn is so popular we went on a week night (we actually had the whole house to ourselves). The best part...our gracious, loving friends, took our kids for the night, and other great friends took care of our Tucker-dog. We had such a wonderful time! We reflected on the past 7 years. Lee even said he would marry me again, which we TRIED to do, but no one showed up for our wedding (see picture below):) We stayed in the McKinley suite, which was once stayed in by President McKinley. It was all very lovely! We went out and had a delicious dinner in downtown Madison, IN at the Bistro One (Lee says it's the best shrimp he's ever had) and just took our time and walked around town. When we returned to the inn we took some pictures together, showcasing Jelly Belly, and just had fun goofing around.

The only sad part was when we got an urgent call from my parents saying my Uncle Ron (dad's brother) had passed away. It was a pretty emotional time for awhile, but as we reflected we knew, knowing my Uncle he would have wanted us to have a fun time together and enjoy ourselves, so we tried to as much as we could, even while thinking and praying for our family affected by his loss.

Again, I am so thankful for my loving husband who has stuck it out with me this long! I love you more everyday Lee!

Daddy saves the day...

It had been one of those days. Call it a Monday. Call it what you like. You know those days, where you are about to pull your hair out because your kids are of course "purposefully" trying everything possible to make you go insane. In the past week Ana had drawn all over her legs with marker, put tooth paste on her body like lotion, got my lipstick and put it all over her face, and yesterday spilled red (yes red) yogurt all over the couch and living room floor...just to name a few. And to clarify, it's not as though she is being unsupervised. These things are happening in about a 30 second time span when she is left so I can put something away in another room or go to the bathroom. I love my kids, love my kids, but yesterday was definitely trying.

Thankfully, daddy came to the rescue and changed everyone's perspective about the day. He said after dinner we were all going to go take an adventure. We all got loaded in the car and drove down to the Levee, a fun touristy outdoor area with lots of restaurants, street performers, aquarium, and the Purple People Bridge. We hadn't been there in forever and it might have been Ana's first time down there. Both the girls thought we were just going to the park, so they were especially surprised as well. We got Cold Stone ice cream, watched this Hamster Water Ball thing (and if we had cash I might have let Isabel do it, it looked like so much fun), and walked the Purple People Bridge. So much fun all for a mere $4.00 ($2 for parking and $2 for ice cream).

It was a fun family evening! I'm so grateful for our family! I'm so grateful for my loving husband!

Our drama queen

The other night we were playing and Isabel backed into the back of a door and bonked her head. It wasn't very hard, but hard enough I was waiting to see what her reaction was, I assumed maybe tears or at least whining. As I watched her, she looked at me, and her best dramatic way she falls to the ground as if she fainted. She laid there for a few seconds, then looked up and with a smile on her face said, "I'm dead."
