Small Group Camping

Well...kind of. Technically we didn't camp, we just went out for the day last Saturday. It was a fun time and just nice to get away. It was at a private campground in IN about 45 min. from us. We had fun playing corn hole (guess who won the tournament??? How? I have no idea:)), hiking, playing games, and of course eating.

Tired, exhausted, etc.. - part 2

Like many others our family too has been fighting the sickness battle. It seems like a never ending cycle and can often become frustrating. I just think we are getting better and then...someone is sick again. I guess that's why I haven't blogged for awhile...I feel like sharing all our woe's would be boring...nothing exciting has happened...just sitting around the house trying to get better, wishing I could sleep for days.

I did come across a verse today in 1 Timothy that was challenging. "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." - 1 Timothy 4:8.. I was thinking how so many people, myself included, put so much into physical training, whether it be exercising or dieting, to get the perfect looking body or body they desire. Which, don't get me wrong I'm not saying exercising or dieting are bad things. God tells us to take care of ourselves. However, what if we put as much effort into training in God's word as we do in physical training...how much better would we/I be off?

Just a thought for the day...and let me tell you that is deep for the way I feel right now. Not all the brain cells are working lately. I think I've spaced out on Lee multiple times over the weekend.

Our house

Being in Jackson Hole over the weekend I missed the storm, but here are some pictures Lee took of the damage on our house, just shingles coming off (not nearly as bad as our neighbor who lost a beam, siding, and shingles). Thankfully, we have someone coming out to look at our roof today.

Tired, exhausted, wiped-out, pooped, etc...

I just got back from a work trip out to Jackson Hole, WY. It was a great trip! It was a trip I had been organizing for AiG for over a year. It was a lot of work, but the Lord really blessed the event. 12+ hour days wear me out though. I'm so glad to be home with Lee and Isabel! I missed them so much! Isabel did great though with her Lolo and Lola watching her. Thank you Lolo and Lola!!! That area of the country is so beautiful! I'm not going to write much because I'm tired, so if you want to know more just ask me. Here are some pictures though.

Our Group at Inspiration Point (those that made it...it was a bit of a hike)
Dinner Show at the Bar J. Chuckwagon...really funny. I only saw part of it because I had to pick someone up from the airport, but what i saw was hilarious.
Yellowstone pictures: Hot Springs. The orange color although beautiful is a bacteria.

Get Out

When I was in High School my youth group would go on a missions trip every summer. It was really one of the highlights of my year. One year we went to Inner-City Chicago and at that time it was one of the poorest/worst neighborhoods in Chicago. The theme for the missions trip was "Get Out"...in the sense of "Get out of your comfort zone." I was reminded of this yesterday when we had our "pork on the pavement" (formally "lunch on the lawn") lunch at church. I forced myself, and yes I had to really force myself to go up to people I didn't know and introduce myself, not something I would typically do. It's amazing how carrying a 1 year old around can help you though...it really helps strike up conversation. Really people could care less about me, it was Isabel they wanted to see!:) I really don't remember many names of the people I met, but hopefully I will remember most faces and will at least be able to greet them another time.

So my challenge to all who read this is, get out of your comfort zone. Do something this week you otherwise wouldn't do. You never know what a blessing it might be to you and whoever it is you come in contact with.

First Hair Cut

Tonight Isabel got her first hair cut. We'd been talking about it for a few days and finally decided kind of impromptu to get it done. If I'd trusted myself better to cut it myself I would, but I don't. Seeing how it was an impromptu thing we didn't have a camera so Lee took a few from his camera phone and it's not the best pictures, but oh well...we got some. She did so well and sat still the whole time. Really it doesn't look drastically different, just shaped better and evened out.

Labor Weekend Fun

We had a little fun playing around with Isabel over the Labor Day weekend. She loves playing with socks, why buy toys right? So we had a little fun with her...ok, it was more fun for our purposes.

Shiner

Isabel got her first "official" shiner yesterday. She has bruises before, but this is by far the worst. I guess learning to walk also means learning not to fall into things when you do fall. Isabel is usually a graceful faller, so much that people have commented about it before...however, not so much this time.
