Family Fun

Awhile back we got a super good deal (like 75% off) some tickets to Coco Key Indoor Waterpark and yesterday was our day to go. If you've never been it's really fun. They have stuff for little kids and big kids (aka adults). Both our girls (especially Isabel) love the water so it was an extra special treat for them. I'd highly recommend going, but if you do find a deal cause the tickets can be pricey otherwise. It wasn't busy at all and I often felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. My only wish was that Isabel was a little taller so she could do some of the bigger slides. I know, she'll be there before I know it. The other thing was the girls got cold after awhile. They keep it warm inside but just being in the water and getting in and out they got chilled, like as in there lips were turning blue. So we took wrap up and get warm breaks every now and then. All in all it was a great morning! The night before our small group had it's annual pumpkin carving party/contest. Last year we had done Elmo and Cookie monster. This year we decided on Micky and Minnie Mouse. Lee was excited to take home the title for best carved pumpkin. I have to admit, I'm a proud wife:)

So after all the excitement the last few days, what did we do today? Went out and bought the girls new tooth brushes, which for them seemed equally exciting:)

Isabel's creativity

My 3-year-old, probably like a lot of other 3-year-old's has a wild imagination. She is very good at playing pretend and being creative. I've been doing some "school time" with her every other morning to give us something to do. Her favorite part is craft time - coloring, gluing, glittering, cutting...who needs math and science?:)

The other day Lee and I were talking in the living room. Isabel came running in saying, "Mommy, Daddy, come, look what I made." I'm not really sure what I thought it would be, but I wasn't really expecting this:

Can you guess what it is? Drum roll please...it's a clock. Those are all different puzzle pieces she used to make it and then the giraffe is one of the hands, which she explained to me. She has a clock that kind of looks like this. It has lots of colors, so I thought the whole idea was pretty creative of her.

Today we were wrapping a friend's b-day present and I was trying to explain to her she can't tell her friend what she got them before they open it, which she often does. Presents are meant to be surprises. I was finishing making our bed when Isabel ran and said, "Mommy, come here. I have a present for you." She had taken all the pillows off the couch and "wrapped" them with blankets. She said, "It's a surprise." So I preceded to open the "surprise," which I found out to be toys (pretend) of course. Here are the girls laying on the present, cause after all it was made of pillows and comfy too.
Ok, for this story I don't have a picture. I keep meaning to take one, but just haven't done it. I want to remember it though. We were walking home from a friends house the other day. Isabel had collected several rocks (rocks are her thing lately) at the friends house and wanted to bring them home. She kept telling me they were to "put in the flower pot." Seeing how I haven't had a flower pots out all season I had no idea what she was talking about. She asked me to hold the rocks for her in the stroller so she woudln't drop them. They seemd like they were something important. When we got home she asked for them right away. I said, "Isabel, what are you doing?" She proceeded to take the rocks and put them in our flower-BED. I noticed there were other rocks there that she must have collected from playing outside at different places. She had created a little rock mountain. I told her it was time to go in and she said, "just a minute mommy." She proceeded to pick a flower from the flower bed and put it on top of the mountain, like a flag.

Today on a wallk she got down on all fours and was crawling. When I asked what she was doing she exclaimed, "I'm a lion," as in duh mom.:) She showed me her claws and everything.

It's fun to see how her little mind continues to grow and learn, and look forward to more memories of her creativity.

Fall family photos

I think I've said it before, but Lauren Bryson is an AMAZING photographer! I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone. She just took some family photos for us (side note: we had her specifically take more of Isabel than Ana, cause we had just gotten Ana's done not too long ago. That's why there are more of Isabel). It's seriously hard to pick favorites, but here are a few:

A Sunday afternoon in October

Sunday afternoons are some of the best afternoons for our family. Even though we have a busy morning at church and Lee often gets home late in the afternoon, the rest of the day just seems slow, relaxed, and easy going. There is no hustle bustle of trying to get things done. This Sunday afternoon we spent at a local pumpkin farm. Who knew it would be 80 degrees in Oct? We all had fun feeding the animals, getting faces painted, and picking the perfect pumpkin. I'm sure we'll make more visits there this fall.

Tribute to Neal

One week ago today I got word that a dear friend passed away, Neal "Bubba" (as his friends called him) Brewer. I met him and his wife first as supporters of AiG and then Neal came to work for AiG part-time. I went on several trips with them for work, the first being a raft trip down the Grand Canyon. You really get to know someone when you're roughing it with the best bathroom view you'll ever have.:) I got to know them well, like family. Whenever something significant happened in our family, Neal and Deb (his wife, the sweetest southern lady you'll ever meet) were always there to love and support us, even with them living in the Atlanta area. I feel so incredibly blessed to know Neal. He was a true follower of Christ and it was evident in every way. He was a southern gentleman. He loved and I mean LOVED his wife. He called her "baby doll" in the most precious way. He always made time for her. Even if he was traveling, he'd skip out on a meal just to have a phone call with her.

I had the privilege of traveling down to Atlanta for the day last Saturday to attend a Celebration Service, celebrating the life he lived and acknowledging his new home with his Lord and Savior. I talked to Neal on the phone the day he passed away. Little did I know it would be the last time I would talk to him, well in this life. He was always putting others first, always asking about me, the girls, our family.

I pray that I follow his legacy of putting others first, and living my life fully and completely for the Lord.
Neal and Deb
